Once again it was my honor to attend this service with Elsie Hignell, both Alumni Board
members.
The service was student led by the Co-Presidents and supported by many other students as the service progressed.
The respect shown by the 927 students; 100 staff, alumni member guests was palpable
throughout the time together.
Some family members also attended and were respectful and felt honored to attend in
support of their participating family members.
Seeing proud Maroons wearing their poppies was a tangible demonstration of honoring
those who served, as well as those who continue to serve – by being part of the Daniel
Mac service. This also acknowledged that services were being held at other schools,
churches, Legions, City, Provincial and Federal Observances across Canada.
DMCI carries on the history of Maroons who choose to be part of the great legacy of
honoring Alumni in the Services for over more than 100 years.
